Maybe this is your first time thinking about therapy or you already had therapy in the past. My journey to becoming a therapist started with my own therapy. I know firsthand what it's like to reach out for support because you are...
Perhaps there is a nagging feeling that the _________ in your relationship could be better. Or you and your partner have vastly different views about money / child rearing / involvement of in-laws / sex and intimacy... etc. Maybe there is lack of understanding about each other's background. The top two reasons why most couples seek therapy is infidelity and communication issues. If you find yourself in that situation, rest assured, you are not the only one.
I believe that every person is unique and there is no need to put anybody into categories, neither within therapy nor outside of it. There is no “one therapy fits it all” mentality; it depends on what the client needs and wants. Same goes for couples. This is your relationship and my aim is to help you and your partner to make your relationship work for you.
Even though therapists have specific knowledge, tools and techniques to support your personal growth, you are the expert on your life. I offer to treat you with professionalism and respect. I won’t impose my ideas or beliefs on you. This is your process and I'm here to support you on that. I aim to establish a relationship of equals, while fully aware that there is an inherent power dynamic between the client and the therapist.
I think as with any profession that has to do with mental health, continuous learning is of the utmost importance. In 2024 I will be attending the gestalt conference in Veracruz. In the past I have taken part in the following courses, classes or workshops:
Certificate in Sexuality, Dysfunctional Experiences, Couples Therapy (Instituto Humanista de Psicoterapia Gestalt, Mexico)
